University Leadership Councils Press Conference

With the influx of newly established graduate research-based universities, the formation of a University Leadership Council has been proposed to act as a forum to bring together creative ideas and work together to foster common interests and to spearhead innovation and technology transfer in the region. The Council which is endorsed by the Government’s Higher Education Leadership would serve as an advocate to interface with industry and government to bring about a clearer understanding of the goals and mission of all UAE founded universities like

  • Focus its attention on higher education issues and needs
  • activities and sharing of laboratories where appropriate; Act as a link for faculty and students to interface with both the public and private sectors
  • relevant to and promotes the overall economic development of the country in specialized focused areas. It is anticipated that this Council, to further its stated objectives will concentrate on: Developing different forums aimed at advancing Research and Innovation (R&I)
  • Participating in various venues to promote the R&I concept in the UAE.  The Executive Committee of the University Leadership Council, consists of the leadership from five leading universities in the UAE; namely, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), Zayed University (ZU), Khalifa University, American University of Sharjah (AUS) and Masdar Institute (MI).
