Twenty-six Khalifa University students have concluded their participation in the X-Culture project, which saw 1,600 students from 44 universities in 29 countries around the world, work in teams to design business plans for submission to major international companies such as McDonald's, British Petroleum, Disney, HSBC, Toyota, Google Inc. and others.

Sleep Apnea Monitor application from American University in Sharjah came second, iPresent: A mobile-based cloud classroom from Abu Dhabi University third and CAViAR: Context Aware Visual Indoor Augmented Reality, from Khalifa University came fourth.

Professor Shunichi Yamashita, spoke to Khalifa University students, faculty and staff on March 11th, 2012 about the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster. Prof. Yamashita is currently the Chairman of the Global Strategic Initiative on Advanced Radiation Medical Sciences, Vice-President of Fukushima Medical University and a Professor at Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
